Dr. Benavides has been in private practice for over 30 years. He received his degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham Medical Center - School of Optometry . He has advanced, specialized training to provide the best and most up-to-date eye care for Eufaula and the surrounding community.
He is a member of the American and Alabama Optometric Association. As a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry he has been evaluated against the highest standards of professional competence and has met rigorous qualifications for fellowship. He has lectured extensively in the US, South America and Europe on a variety of eye health topics. Every spring he lectures to the second year professional students at the UAB School of Optometry in Birmingham on external eye disease. This past November, he traveled to Madrid, Spain where he lectured to a group of eye doctors on glaucoma. Dr. Benavides is active in the community and holds consulting privileges as a member of the Medical Staff at Medical Center Barbour.
